where to buy "tupperware" style storage containers?

hi all

with all this bulk cooking i need some more plastic storage tubs that will cope with going in the freezer and dishwasher...

any recommendations for where to buy them at good value?

I have some cheap ones from woolworths but the lids don;t seal very well on some of them.....

I find the boxes from Ikea tend to be better for this sort of thing

I got some with the locking type lid at Dunelm for a reasonable price.

    I'm afraid I'm a lock'n'lock fan

they are more expensive, but I can trust them not to leak.

Lakeland and QVC sell them - there is a long thread about them

Being a bit of a tightwad I tend to rely on takeaway containers and ice cream tubs. They don't last forever, but there is always a fresh supply next time we treat ourselves - and it's a good excuse to be a bit self-indulgent!

For the real thing you can't beat a boot sale!

Morrisons have some Pyrex rectangular dishes with plastic lids for £1.49. They are not very big and will only do shepherds pie etc for one person but i use them for my hubby for work. I know this is not exactly what you are asking for but they are handy as they can go straight in the oven or microwave. They also freeze and are dishwasher safe.

For quantity I agree. I THINK they have 17 for £3!!!! offer on at the moment. If they are going straight in the freezer upright they are fine.

I am also a fan of the lock'n'lock type. They are more sturdy if you can afford them. As I use them for lunch as well, it saves accidents as the lids can come off in a bag.
  • Poundland do 10 containers, and they are microwavable.
  • There also the kind most of the supermarkets stock Asda seem to stock a lot. "take-alongs" and the other are called something like baco-bits???. They are both billed as re-useable or disposable. The take-alongs are the better of the two (the lids change size compared with the bottoms on the others) and they are even diswashable. I think they are about £1.50 for 5
