Hiya
I'm after some plastic tubs in which I can put all my cooked meals and freeze them as single portions, but I'd like them to go straight from the freezer to the microwave, I know they can be quite expensive but I'm wondering if any of you good people can tell me an alternative that does the job equally as well at a fraction of the price, or the cheapest place to buy the proper ones.
Thanks

Sturdy ice-cream or margarine tubs? (test them with a bit of water in them in the microwave before you freeze anything in them to make sure they don't melt).
Other than that Ikea do very cheap sets of plastic tubs that are microwave and freezer friendly (have had my cheapie set three years and no probs yet)Old-styler, crafter and freebie junkie!Frogga's Amazing Weight Loss Campaign: Member no.20 since 2/9/07 -- lost 10lbWedding bells 04/10/08

margarine tubs..... makes excellent one portion containers......
also makro do the chineese style plastic cartons with lids .. in pack of 50..... in two diff sizes...
i think their around about the £5 - £ mark.. plus vat...
plus i think some the cheap £1 shops sell them as well...in packs of 5 for a £1.Work to live= not live to work0 -
The chinese tubs would be great as I've been using those already but only have two and obviously I need more than that but wasn't gonna be ordering chinese every night
Glad I know where I can get them from - just need to twist someones arm to take me there now as it's miles away and I've no transport
Don't usually buy ice-cream but could possibly use the margarine tubs, Thanks guys0 -
if you use ebay... might be worth you looking there for the cartons....
ok might be more expensive by the time you add postage etc.....
but if you take into account the petrol cost of getting there, and waiting for someone to take you..
it doesnt cost anything to have a nose..Work to live= not live to work0 -
£1 shop they are 10 for £1 for the plastic ones you get in the takeaways.
You can pop a freezer bag inside the box you are freezing in, and fill that with the food, then pop out when it's frozen, and reuse the tub, when it comes to cook it just put back in a tub. Saves having squillions of tubs in freezer and cupboards. One day I might be more organised...........

You should NEVER use plastic containers in the microwave which aren't specifically designed for microwave use.
The perils of plastic
I personally don't use plastic in the microwave at all... prefer instead to freeze in plastic containers, then pop the contents into a rectangular glass dish for heating in the microwave or oven.

I have these too in a few shapes/sizes! absolutely great, easily fit a big portion of stew/soup in handily shaped round tubs, and single or double lasagnes in flat rectangular tubs. the REAL bonus with these is that they dont get hot and burn you when they are in the microwave, AND they are reusable, mine have been used a couple of times a week and a still like new. (They dont seem to discolour either...touch-wood!)0
