I usually look on laterooms.com as they have offers on all types of hotels so you can pick the most stars for the least price - no disappointments so far
Do you know London well? personally I would avoid Leicester Square area - try Bloomsbury, Russell Square area or Kensington instead. Anyway have a lovely time!!0 -
I've stayed quite a few times in a very nice 5* hotel in Grosvenor Square, Mayfair. Its about a 5/10 minute walk to Oxford St, and 15/20 mins walk to all the central attractions (Trafalgar Square etc).

Best to avoid Leicester Square all together!

I always use lastminute.com and look at the "top secret hotels". If you're shrewd enough you can work out from peoples reviews of the hotels approximately where they are.
We had a lovely stay at the 5* Langham Hotel last month for 1/3rd what is should have cost. A great deal on lastminute.
Good luck and enjoy!

The Hoxton hotel in London looks fabulous and every so often they do special deals where you can rent a room for £1 per night!! I have never been able to take advantage of it yet as they do not allow children under 12 (which may suit a couple such as you.
). My DD is only 10 so need to wait a couple of years.
