Hi
Thanks to everyone who contributed to Martin's Thrifty Book - I received this book for Xmas (i did ask for it !) and started implementing many aspects of old style straight after.
I've used up stuff lurking in my freezer and cupboards, meal planning, I've been making double, freezing etc etc.
Well the good news is that my shopping has gone down SO much -
my weekly budget was £70 - as set by Consumer Credit Counselling Service (which might suggest to you the dire straights i am in)- and I stuck to this rigidly. However, this last week I've spent £28 on groceries etc !!!! That includes an organic veg box, 4 packets of seeds (BOGOF in Wilkos) , compost , bicarb and three boxes of washpowder from the £1 shop that were 3 for 2. Wahey !!!!:j
Next week is my fortnightly Tesco delivery, so I might go toabout £40 with that, although I've got meat to last nearly all week, so I may only have to visit the farm shop to top up on fruit.
I can't believe the savings you can make - I want to tell everyone our little secret... but I think they might think I'm mad.....
Thats if they don't already. I'm sure my husband thinks ive gone a bit weird as I'm excitedly waiting for my compost bin (!), although I don't hear him complaining about the food he's eating - we had Chinese Chicken from the thrifty book today - DELICIOUS !!!!!
