Not sure if this is the right thread but here goes.
I have decided that paying £45 a time to have my hair cut and coloured is a rip off especially as my hair is very very short. So yesterday I got it cut at Supercuts and coloured it myself. I think the cut at £11.95 was actually better than my normal hairdresser does. Anyway because my hair is so short I had masses of the colour left over which I put down the sink. My question is would it be possible to only use half the colour if I put half of both the tube and the bottle in separate containers?

Yes but you would need not to keep half the bleach separate from half the colour. When I did this some years ago I think I kept an old mixing bottle/applicatorfrom a previous pack so that I could mix them together the following month...if this makes sense.0

If you keep hair colourant and not use it you will find it expands (bleach) and foams up everywhere or explodes in the bottle (colourants) - this is why they alawys tell you to get rid right away.
you would have to keep half the mixture seperate - but then the colour you have mixed may not be accurate?:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -
herbatint does 3 applications for me, it allows you to use what you need and store the rest. It costs about £8 ...so works out cheap and gives excellant results. Also no nasty chemicals.Kindness costs nothing0

When I want to touch up roots I use a saucer, a tint brush and a 5 ml plastic spoon. I mix up 10ml of each (colour and bleach) and touch up my roots. This generally allows for 3 applications so what I normally do is full pack dye one time-touch up the next-full pack the next-touch up the next and so forth. This way, you cut the bill dramatically but don't leave outgrowth too long(especially if you miss any bits).Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

What colour do you dye your hair? Lush henna bars are really good value, and if your hair is really short you could probably get away with using one square or less (my hair is quite long and I only need to use 2). And like Herbatint, no nasty chemicals

Ooh, thanks sozzifer, I didn't know you could get Henna from Lush, have always meant to henna my hair and it looks good value too! That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0
