Easy Cakes For Toddlers

Options
Hello

Well after just spending well over £1 for Noddy cakes for ds - I'm thoroughly fed up with getting ripped off for naff "homemade" cakes.

Can anyone suggest any recipes that are easy to use and don't take too much effort for toddlers to make ?

Many thanks

Lynn

hi , i have a fab recipe. it is a mary berry one.

bascially everything gets put into the bowl and u just mix it all up and beat it, then add a tablespoon of mix into each cake case. makes about 18 cakes , they are really light and fluffy. and with a little bit of icing sugar and hundreds and thousand. perfect. my 3 year old started helping me make these when she was just after 2 as she could easily mix it. perfect results every time.

    4 oz soft maragine
    4 oz caster sugar
    2 eggs
    4 oz self raising flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder

also if u want to make them into chocolate cakes take a table spoon of flour out and replace with a table spoon of cocoa powder

  • My DS is 25 months, he likes helping me make cornflake cakes, he likes to "Mix" the cornflakes whilst I melt the chocolate, then once the choc is cooled he can mix it all up, and help put it into cases, no hot ovens to worry about, just be really careful with the temperature of the chocolate.

The cornflakes normally turn into crumbs, after all the mixing, but its all good fun, and don't the calories all fall out once they are broken, the same as broken biscuits??

  • My 2 used to love decorating cakes when they were smaller (still do, but now they make designs that look appetising :D ).

Fairy cakes are good, and so are digestive and rich tea biscuits.

You can make water icing in loads of colours. Then add decorations from the supermarket - 100s and 1000s, smarties, chocolate decorations, writing icing, the list is endless.

Crispy buns are great for small people to make, too.

Oooh, making me feel nostalgic
