Don't throw away your old Christmas cards

I use the old Christmas cards we got this year by cutting the card through the spine and keeping the nice front page. Then I cut out the nice feature points of the card making sure I leave a small part where I punch hole it. When you cut them out don't just do squares but do all kinds of shapes, makes it more individual and unique.
Then next Christmas I use them as name tags for presents. This saves from having to buy extra tags along with the wrapping and also gives it a unique touch.

Always use them as name tags, if my son doesn't steal them for making things first, if someone writes on the back of the picture it's easy, just back it with another piece of card if they have. One day I might be more organised...........

Me too - I either use them as gift tags or sometimes as postcards to enter free draws or send off for something etc.0

This brings back memories, me and my sis used to do this to our nan's left overs to make tags for her to use the following year. i think we used to cut round them with pinking shears (if that is what they are called!) and hole punch the corner and put ribbon through.0

I always use them to make toppers for next years christmas cards with those designs that are suitable and recycle the others for charity. Keeps me quiet for a while and love fiddling for an hour or two!0

Having started a craft-class in September it's amazing what you can make with very little outlay.I beg disused cards from my family and save myself from buying expensive crafty-bits from Hobbycraft but using a sharp pair of scissors and a bit of ingenuity0

All our our Christmas and Birthday cards are sorted and reused in one way or another
Grade A: Used as toppers for nexts years handmade cards
Grade B: Used as gifts tags for next years gifts
Grade C: Cut up to use bits for backgrounds and matting and layering
GradeInsides used for writing 'to-do' lists and shopping lists
Here's a boys birthday card I made recently by canabalizing a couple of old cards and putting the elements together with a few craft oddments thrown in for good measure. It kept me quiet one rainy afternoon for an hour or so and save me about £2.50 Yay!Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -

Wish I had the time and patience with the handmade cards, they look great! Decided rather than saying no to my son being creative going to set aside an afternoon for him to 'help' me choose which ones can be recycled and which can't
Keep us both happy then. Recycling what is left and the bits of after I have used them for lists etc.
