Hi Josie.
To make the topping just boil couple of tins of condensed milk for about 3 hours, allow tins to cool before opening them, then spread over a pastry case.0 -
Yes, I've got one given to my Mum by the school cook about 20 years ago.
I have tried it but the top comes out like bakewell tart instead of gooey like it should, maybe you can tell me where I'm going wrong. I'll dig out the recipe and post it ASAP!When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
Hi Josie.
To make the topping just boil a couple of tins (do not pierce) of condensed milk for 3 hours, top up the saucepan with more water as necessary.
Leave the tins to cool, then open and spread the topping onto pastry base.0 -
Found a recipe here:

The 'authentic' one posted by Porky (2nd one down) is exactly the same as the one I used except you add 2 or 3 drops of butterscotch essence in at the same time as the milk paste.
I think the problem I had was obtaining WHOLE milk powder (that is what it said in my recipe) I could only get skimmed, I was going to try it using milk (not powder) but never go around to it. Hmmm, I can almost smell itmust try it out this weekend.
I have also found cornflake tart
