Home-made salt/body scrub?

Hi there,

I've been looking for the instructions on how to make one of these as I know I read it somewhere here before, but I cannot for the life of me find it! Can anyone help?

Thanks

I don't know an exact recipe but I just use salt or sugar mixed in with baby oil. I think you can use oats too.
It really is just as good as the expensive shop bought ones.

Try googling , its sure to be out there somewhere.

I have made some for myself, I used a packet of course sea salt and poured over it some oil, I think I used almond or grapeseed to which I had added a few drops of essential oils. The ratio for essential oils I go by is a maximum of 1 drop of essential oil to every 2ml of oil you use, so 20ml of oil-10 drops of essential oil, you sometimes don't need this much though go by smell.

My beauty bible also says you could use brown sugar for sensitive skins or fine sea salt if you prefer it to course.

I have a book out of the library, which I haven't looked at yet, I will go and see what that suggests

  • hiya i made 1 of these last week on my holistic therapy course.... what we did was take a few citrus fruits( doesnt matter which just aslong as u like the smell...) then grate all the rind off of the fruit then discard the fruit when all rind is off (leave the white bit on tho). then we put the rind onto a few pieces of kitchen roll and spread it out to dry. (leave for about 20 to 30 mins) then taking your jar jobby (i used a kilner type jar from ikea at a cost of 99p) fill it 3/4 full of course sea salt (but check it 4 any bits of rock or non salt bits in there...) then add your dried rind and mix it til its all in there evenly... then finally add a few tablespoons of olive/rapeseed (any oil like that will do) til it feels slightly oily , it doesnt matter how much as its down to personal taste and skin type. i used 4 tablespoons and that was plenty for me.

    hth. :D

    These all sound lovely!

Perhaps a stupid question, but I have an awful lot of olive oil laying around - could this be used?
  • these sound easy to do, how long do you think they will smell for, and would the smell be strong - dont want to feel that I am giving a jar of salt.
also where do you get almond oil from/ Thanks

in a kilner/pickling jar it should last a long while.

almond oil should be available from a health food shop, or online?
