Will a stick blender do it?

hi all
emkergency situ :)
Got guests coming over for dinner & im doing a gypsy tart for dessert

I need to whisk for 15 mins but my TESCO VALUE bloody mixer hasa now karked it :mad:

Will a blender do the same thing?

Or do I have to whisk by hand for 20 mins :eek: dont have time- not ready etc

HELP :D

    A blender isn't the same as a whisk. A whisk whips things up and gets air into whatever you are whisking; a blender purees things.

    I guess it may depend on what you are whisking. I know from experience that whisking potatoes produces fab mash, but using a blender turns them into a horrible starchy glutinous mess.

    I think you'll have to do it by hand:(
    The stick blender chops and blends but you need to get the air into it.

    I don't think a blender will do it sorry, either send the OH to Tesco for another mixer, get him whisking or cheat and buy a dessert!
