I don't know if printers are "OS" but...

If you're like me, you like to take digital photos and then only pay (in paper and ink) to print out the ones you like. I make scrapbooks and so I do like high-quality photos.
Well, that ink can get darned expensive if you're printing out glossy photos on your inkjet printer!
One thing I've noticed: people can really waste printer ink. My darling husband (dh) was guilty of this for a long time. He likes to print things off the Internet - like driving directions and news articles and such. He'll often just hit the printer icon on the toolbar and call it good. I had to get on his case about this and tell him to PLEASE print in low-quality greyscale whenever possible. I wish we could set our printer to default to this, but I am stumped on this. It defaults to medium-quality, full-color.
Anyway, I just thought that I'd pass this along... if you like to print things out on your computer, get into the habit of using the fastest greyscale setting whenever possible, thereby saving the color ink for when it REALLY counts.

Most printers have the option to set up non standard 'default' settings - sometimes called 'profiles'. You then leave the settings permanently on the lower quality default & just use your high quality settings when you want to. Have a look through the printer Preferences.0
