Observer Food Monthly - The French Issue
This week's Observer Food Monthly is our tribute to all that's great in French cooking. What gives it that special je ne sais quoi?
Great French food on both sides of the Channel
We'll be hearing from France's unofficial ambassador to the British kitchen, Raymond Blanc, as he begins his new series of Kitchen Secrets. Bill Buford gives his view on French cooking from the other side of the Channel. Plus, Rachel Cooke attends the Bocuse d'Or, the biennial chef's version of It's a Knockout held in Lyon, and attempts to hold up the British end.
Gallic recipes from Nigel Slater
Nigel Slater will be revisiting his days at cooking school in Paris, to bring you some French-influenced vegetarian recipes, including a crisp tarte au chevre, chicory au gratin and a rich cauliflower soup.
Cheese and wine
No round up of French food would be complete without them. So Bruno Loubet will be taste testing the best cheese and charcuterie, and we bring you our top 20 wines for under £20.0 -
