Does anyone know how to get shoe polish out of clothes?

Options
Or Ralph Lauren handbags?

My fiance managed to get lots of black shoe polish over my clothes and handbag. It's the kind that comes in a tube and you squeeze out a small blob. I've put my clothes to soak in cold water, but I'm not too hopeful :(

I`d be tempted to photo the damage now rather than attempt any first aid on them. You may then have a case for claiming on your domestic insurance. It may be worth a call to your insurers to ask for advice. HTH

Don't know but stick to the solid stuff in future, it's cheaper too;)

Is he still your fiancé after this!?

not sure if this will work b ut hairspray on clothing can take out pens as it disolves the stain-if garment is ruined i would try this as you have nothing to loose

Don't know what's in the small tube ... but if it is wax, you could always try the old fashioned brown paper (kitchen towel, anything absorbent) plus iron trick ...

ie, place above mentioned on top of stain and add iron, wax will then melt and be absorbed in to the above mentioned rather than the bag/clothes.

    Worth a shot ....

  • The polish in the tubes have a high dye content, this happened to me except it went onto my beige dining room carpet. I immediatley blotted it up and poured neat stardrops onto the offending areas and left to soak abit. Then very gently using my fingers rubbed the stardrops into the carpet and it removed the stain. You could try it with your clothes but will probably need to get a specialist cleaner for your bag. HTH x
