The following are press releases/statements from Sainsbury and John Lewis regarding Farepak
Sainsburys Press Release:
"Sainsbury's offers good will gesture to Farepak customers saving for Sainsbury's vouchers
The joint administrator has indicated to us today that barring unforeseen problems with the Farepak agent information they will be able to provide us with details of all Farepak agents who had customers saving for Sainsbury's vouchers and the total value of those vouchers.
In the event that the administrator can provide us with this information, we will send to the agents Sainsbury's vouchers equivalent to 25% of the total savings value towards Sainsbury's vouchers. In these circumstances it will be the responsibility of the agent who is the only person with access to the individual customer information to ensure these good will vouchers are distributed. All interested parties are working together to provide information as quickly as possible and deliver vouchers to customers as soon as possible.
In these circumstances we would expect to dispatch vouchers to the agents by the end of this month. We will confirm when these vouchers have been dispatched to agents. The only route to receive these vouchers will be via the Farepak agent. We regret that it will not be possible for customers to claim vouchers direct from Sainsbury's or from any Sainsbury's store."
John Lewis statement:
The John Lewis Partnership has great sympathy for the people who have been saving up through Farepak and have lost out as a result of the collapse of the company and we are concerned about the impact on those affected this
Christmas. We pledge to participate in the fund-raising for the government-backed Farepak Response Fund and will contribute 25% of the value of Farepak customers' savings who opted to buy John Lewis vouchers
through the scheme.
