I mean sharp/dangerous objects like kitchen knives, peelers etc...
surely, I can't just put them in the bin?

are they useable?
if so. try freecycle..often art students and so on like things like that.
otherwise, wrap in lots of carriers bags and then into a box.
or take straight to the tip

depends what it is. I tend to just wrap up in lots of newspaper and put in the bin, as I would with a broken glass/plate, but lots more paper.
You might be able to take big kitchen knives to your local tip to be disposed of properly. Depends on how worried you are about people hurting themselves on it. Theres relatively little chance of people hurting themselves on it...from your house, to bin, to bin lorry, to landfill...low chance of people hurting themselves.
But...why are you classing kitchen knives as clutter? surely they are needed? Can you not sharpen them, and keep them? One thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.

I have far too many and these are naff ones like the ones DH's grandma got free with her Damart order. They're actually dangerous becasue they're so flimsy.
