I am doing a baby hamper for my friend and her O/H who are expecting very early next year.

Got some baby freebies in there and other bits like baby wash/shampoo/lotion/powder, cotton wool, baby wipes, sponges etc Purchased with PB Boots vouchers ;)

How far after Xmas are they due? Can you get away with doing something like that?

You can still get them a pamper kit to enjoy their last nights before the baby comes? You can even make them a countdown calendar .... 30 days of freedom ... 29 days of freedom etc etc:D

Maybe add some vouchers for baby sitting, helping out with shopping ('cos she's gonna waddle soon and find it hard:D ) etc etc
I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....

How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!

I thunk I've made you think for a minute!

My friend is pregnant with twins so i've bought her some bits from the pregnancy range in boots, bubble baths, cremes etc. I dont normally buy them a gift as a couple but i've bought her husband some earplugs.

I would get something more for them, than the baby.

When my mum was pregnant with me, all she got for her birthday and xmas was baby stuff and it drove her mad.

  • Yes Wanty, I tend to agree, I will of course buy something nice when the baby is born. Any Christmas pressie ideas?

How about a DVD set or CDs - something that they cna enjoy together. And with having a baby coming they might not have as much money or item to be going out, so give them something so they can enjoy a night in.
  • Yes, they do triple packs in most supermarkets, I will have a look!

How about a 'night in' homemade hamper. I'm doing one for my friends and theirs will include a dvd, some chocs in a celophane bag to make them look homemade!, a bottle of wine (you could get alcohol free), and I'm also doing some homemade flapjacks. All my friends and family love my flapjacks so I'm going to make the most of that and give some to them all!! You could give them some popcorn instead. Try to find out discretly what type of films they like watching together and chose a relavent dvd or you could go with a xmas classic like 'its a wonderfull life' or something like that.

I personally would not get them baby related gifts for xmas, as iwant said it drives pregnant ladies mad when everybody goes on and on about babies and don't actually think about you (speaking from experience here!! lol)

On the theme of dvds you could get them a DVD, a bottle of wine and some chocolates or something else edible they like and package it up in a box with a card describing it as a "night in kit" or "have a night in on me". Something appropriate to you. I think I read a similar idea somewhere else on the site but I can't remember where!! It'll give them the chance to spend some time just the two of them before the baby comes while not spending any money which I guess they'll be trying to save.

Sorry, when I wrote this the previous post wasn't there!!
