Tesco's site says:

"We aim to fulfil our promises. If you can't find the special offer that we have advertised, we will give you a 'voucher' for your next visit."

This is what Tescos call a raincheck voucher and means you can buy the product at the special offer price when it comes back in stock even if the offer has finished

I've had one of these before, when Jaffa cakes were BOGOF but out of stock, and the promotion was nearly over. Got a raincheck voucher and got BOGOF Jaffa cakes the following week. :D

This is for use in store aswell. My friend had one last week.

Just go to cs explain that it was on bogof & there was only one left. They will check to see if they have any in the back & if not you will be given a slip to claim the free pack when you next go in to store.

This is such a useful thing - my local Tesco have never promoted that they do it yet the CS staff immediately know what I'm talking about when I've asked, and now print a specialised receipt from the till that they fill in with details of the promotion and the discount or product you are 'owed' next time.

It's particularly good as I don't tend to want two at the same time... but if there *is* only one you can raincheck ready for the next time you want one :T

I went to Tesco yesterday. Their hovis farmhouse BOGOF was out of stock, in fact, they'd gone and put a completely different brand of bread in it's place!

I was told you cannot get a raincheck unless ONE item is there and the other one isn't :(

    I've been Money Tipped!
Unfortunately this offer is for in store only and not for home delivery (online) orders.

I emailed Tesco CS referring to the above and saying that if I do an online shop and an item which is on special offer is not available I have never received any vouchers. Their reply :
I regret to advise that the terms for our Grocery delivery service state:

If for any reason beyond our reasonable control, we are unable to supply a particular item, we will not be liable to you. Please note that we will attempt to deliver substitute lines should selected lines be unavailable unless you request us not to do so.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused.

I went to Tesco yesterday and got a raincheck voucher as I had picked up the last Xmas biscuits which were on BOGOF. The CS was icy though (she gave me a look as if to suggest 'how dare you know about raincheck vouchers' and questioned me 'are you sure it was the last one, did they check out the back?' I told her yes and I was in a hurry to pick up my kids, so she handed it over).

!!!!!! it was only a raincheck voucher and I had never been in this store before so they don't know me for R&Ring or coupon-use (yet!).

Anyhoo, I then popped into another store later and used it at the till when buying 2 of the Biscuit boxes. So I got 3 for the price of 1. I always do that when I have a raincheck voucher, the cashier just checks that you've bought one and takes the price off the total (they don't notice the BOGOF has already happened).

charlene next time you want a product thats out of stock that is on offer stick to your guns a raincheck voucher is for any item on offer not just bogofs but if bogofs are completely out of stock you should still get a voucher to get your items at that price next time suggest your tescos worker gets to know who these things work

Yep, I agree with this! I once asked for a raincheck voucher when something was completely out of stock but on offer for 2 (not BOGOF though). The CS thought I was mad, told me I couldn't have one unless I had bought the last one.

I politely disagreed as you don't have to buy the last one, how can you if they are out of stock? She looked doubtful, checked with a colleague......and bingo! I was right and she apologised.

In the case of a BOGOF offer, always use them when the offer is STILL ON though (as I posted above) so you get TWO completely free items at the till (you pay for none of them if initially you've not been able to buy one due to lack of stock).

Also I think these coupons are for any offer (even extra points offers, e.g. sometimes they offer 999 points for buying some electrical item). Possibly for low special offer prices too (like the Cranium Family addition if your store has the low SEL up but no stock right now).
