mulled wine

How can I get the most delicious mulled wine without adding any other alcohol other than red wine?

I plan to put in a sachet of mulled spices that I already have

With peelings of Oranges and Lemon and a cinnamon stick broken in half.

Is there anything else I should add?

You can add sugar, peppercorns, cinnamon, cloves and sliced rings of orange and lemon,you can also add a carton of orange juice, don't boil it as it can taste burnt and you loose the alcohol that's in it.

I make a firetongs punch (google it, it's gorgeous stuff but sugar cones are impossible to buy in the UK so yo u have the hassle of making your own) the other problem with that is that you do need rum, however the rum is only used to set flames to the sugar, and the rum must be warm because it wont burn if it's cold)
