I went to the docs and she gave me antihistamines but it hasnt helped. Im also using tgel on my hair. Im going to the doctors again later on today but in the meantime just wanted to know if anyone had heard of this thing before...just need some info. Plz help! Im at my wits end!

  • mono sodium glutamate - I think thats the spelling - it may be worth looking at what you ahve eaten or drunk when you get this sensation or perhaps some sort of cosmetics/bath smelly could cause it. I think its called formication - a sensations of insects crawling over the skin.

  • Hi
Don't know if it will help but I get a similar feeling over my scalp. I get this at the start of nearly every winter and I have always put it down to me having dry skin and the start of the central heating going on. I usually buy some dry scalp conditioner from boots. However, this year it has been slightly worse and I have only just worked out that it is probably my new hair dryer. I treated myself to a super top of the range model as I have thick hair and none of the others seem to get it dry. However, the new hairdryer is very powerful and I have felt it very burning at times if it gets to close to the skin.
I will have to experiment without it over the weekend and see if it makes any difference.

Hope you get sorted out soon.

    Cheers

dont think mines could be the hairdryer as i have that feeling in the shower too. I called the doctor and he said to keep taking the anti-histamines...only been 3 days. He said it will take up to a week!!!! Aaaagggggggggghhhhhhhhh! I have started using tgel too...but nothing seems to help!
    Any other ideas?

Sure it's not just dry skin or as a result of having warmer clothes on? Try using Dove products so your skin doesn't dry out. I also think that the problem might be that you have got a little paranoid about it so your thinking about it more. When my daughters had headlice I couldnt stop scratching but I didn't actually have them myself. It's just thinking about it that makes you itch.
