Dividing frozen veg into portions a la anthea!

Options
Antheas tip on measuring out your frozen veggies into portions is a wonderful one. As Iihave a bag of frozen peas and a few mins spare I thought I would do this. I am awful at measuring/weighing its all done by sight and if I cook too much its added to a stew or something the next day. Not enough...och, who cares!

So what would you suggest the ideal portion of veggies is, in wieght , then I can wiegh and bag and be even more organized!

I prob also eatless of them than I should, so if its pre wieghed then no excuse!! I do eat them in resturants!!

  • Well they recommed 80g as a portion in the "5 a day" thing, which I find is a pretty good size.

I do tend to weight as I cook so save on plastic bags and waste, but it does normally mean a more generous final portion!:D
  • i find a handful of peas is a portion (but we love peas in our house!!) same with ost veg when i portion it out, i go by one hand ful per person.

For some reason, I always do 100g per person when I cook frozen peas, sweetcorn or green beans. Don't really measure anything else! 2 carrots per person, but I always buy them fresh.

:T What a good idea! Might stop me chasing those little blighters all around the bottom of the chest freezer! I like the sound of 80 - 100 g If I find I have cooked too much then it gets saved in the soup pot in the freezer.
