Christmas Stockings

Hi all,
I would like to have a go at making a couple of stockings to hang on the fireplace at Christmas. The idea is that BF and I will spend no more than £20 on each other and everything we buy has to fit inside the stocking.
Personally, I think I'm going to find it more difficult than he will...I'm so easy to buy for...a new nail varnish, a thong, pair of socks, chocolate, etc. I'm a bit stuck for things for him, but I've got a while to think.
Anyway, I'm going off track! I'm wondering if anybody has, or knows where I can find, instructions to make a stocking, as I would really like to have a go at making my own. I've got a sewing machine.
Thank you

Hi nic,
Have a look here for step by step instructions: How to make a stocking.
I did a quick search on google and there are lots of links worth looking at.
Good luck with making them.:)

Hi Pink,
That's fab, thank you so much!

Just wanted to add that the link Pink found suggests that you buy a cheap stocking and undo the stitching to get a pattern for your new one.
I know most people can probably draw their own, but being the uncreative type, mine wouldn't turn out right. I have, however, found this pattern on the internet, which I will be using, and it might be of use to other "uncreative types"
Now I just need to find some cheap-but-nice Xmas fabric....0
