Help - Pet Smells

I am at the end of my tether.
My old "ratbag" aged 15½ has taken to w**ing in the house.
I dilute it as soon as I find it and then clean up, but she keeps going back to the same two spots. One in the lounge and one in the study.
Any tips please, I have tried bicarb to freshen the area, antibacterial to clean, biological soap powder as recommended by the vet, but nothing is putting her off.
We have also done the obvious of keeping her just to the hall, but children and OH's being what they are don't always remember to shut the doors of the other rooms.
Help
Thanks
Gilly

We used Febreze in this situation as the dog didn't seem to like the smell - also the vet gave us some drops which apparently sucked all his necessary muscles togetjer when we were out of the house !!!!!!!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

You can buy a special carpet cleaner from wilko's etc designed especially for pet accidents. They always go back to the same spot because they've marked it. I had the same problem and so did a friend. we both found this cleaner worked quite well.

What you could also do is, put some treats down where she seems to go most often!
This works for cats, might for dogs too, they don't wee where they eat!!Sig ah Sig Ahhh0 -
I use "Whoops! pet stain and odour remover mousse" to be effective. It's made by Xanto and got it for about £1 in Savers. It's pleasantly scented and very easy to use.
My rescue dog still wees submissively, when excited or confused with what is going on and this stuff has so far been the best at sorting the problem.0 -
If he still persists in the weeing accidents and you can't dissuade him perhaps puppy training pads (from the pet shop) would help. My dog uses one when we are out of the house for any length of time "just in case" and he wees happily on one. It absorbs the smell and the liquid (they're plastic backed so don't leak onto the carpet) and we just chuck it in the bin when we get back.
If you can't get puppy pads, get some protective pads from the disability/medical suppplies/sanitary supplier shop (meant to put in beds or on chairs for "adult accidents") - they are loads cheaper, come in much bigger packs and work exactly the same way. In fact, the dog seems to prefer these - I think of them as nappies for slightly leaky older dogs! We leave one by the front door when we're out and he never misses it. He is of course let out into the garden when we're home and walked three times a day too!0 -
Thank you all for the replies.
I took Steffi to the Vet and he has diagnosed either cystitis, a kidney infection or problems with her liver.
He has prescribed a course of antibiotics and I am to take her back in 2 weeks for some urine tests to see if there is anything else.
On the smelly front I visited Savers and bought a can of Whoops and a load of Neutradol to help get rid of the smell. The OH has also taken up the underlay where she has soiled most and bought an offcut to replace it.
Thanks again
