Martin,
Why don't you create your own online shop. I appreciate that you may not be able to provide the very best price but atleast people will be able to purchase your book safe in the knowledge that they will receive 1st class service.
Many people would rather pay that little bit extra instead of trying to hunt out the most affordable option. You could also compensate for the additional expense by "Signing" the products you sell.
I've setup a Poll with this thread, so you can see what demand would be like!!

YES "SIGNED" - I would love to get a signed copy, this would offset the cost. Thanks for your votes, I had suspicions that options 1 & 3 would be popular. On one hand people are happy (& have the knowledge) to scour the internet to find the best bargains. On the other a signed copy, well this is just gonna be popular.

YES "SIGNED" - I would love to get a signed copy, this would offset the cost.I think selling it through the web is a great idea ,especially a signed copy ...........not sure about Martins poor hands though signing all those books.............and I wouldn't want it done by a stamp0

It is a good idea, if he has the time, with all the other stuff he has to do.:)
Not knocking the idea Tony:) Merely pointing out, that he doesn't appear to have very much spare time as it is. IMO:)0 -
NO SHOP - I am happy to search around in order to purchase a copy of the book.Tony it's a nice idea - but I'm afraid im with Pat on this one. Also i don't have any way to sell the books that cheaply I don't get a deal. And while i know people would be happy to have signed copies that would mean logistically having to send them out as well - which means setting up a fulfillment operation - an absolute nightmare.
Also to be honest - i think it goes against my aim of "never trying to sell someone something" and "always talking about the cheapest and best way to do it". I am very careful to ensure i am only ever sell 'information' about MoneySaving
martin
However i know the demand for signed copies, when the book comes out with the 'updated version' whenever that is - i will make sure there's a way for regulars to get a signed copy

But I didn't know you would say that!! Which is pretty good. I think people would expect to pay the cover price & a few quid for postage ..o0(So we'll call it a tenner). This is an achievable price and I really don't think people will beat you up over selling your book, those with the knowledge & time will simply source it else where eg "The Cheapest Price" whilst others would prefer timely service etc.
Imagine in time you could sell "Mugs", "Pens", "T-shirts" or even "Car Stickers" Mwuaha ha ha ha.....0 -
NO SHOP - I am happy to search around in order to purchase a copy of the book.Noooo. Tony - people won't buy their books from me - but i'll make sure there's a way to have them signed. Probably another book launch party and then an offer of a posted signature to the top 100 posters at the time should do itMartin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

YES "SIGNED" - I would love to get a signed copy, this would offset the cost. How about a shop to sell mse items with all proceeds going to the charity fund, as in the way we were able to bid for t shirts on ebay?0

Again wouldnt that be time consuming though, i imagine the team are constantly researching to keep the information rolling out on the emails etc. setting up a shop would require alot of time and attention and as much as we would all like some memoribillia (i wish spellcheck was part of the new forum) i think the emails and information is the main thing for us.0

I wouldn't have any problem with Martin selling his book from the site. If there weren't issues with the sheer amount of time it would take to handle sales, I think it would be great. However, I wouldn't want to make it easier for the inevitable knockers, (there will always be some), who would love to have the opportunity to say, "He only has the site to promote his book!"
Anyone who actually listens to anything Martin says would know straight away that that's rubbish - a mere publicity vehicle for one man's ego would hardly produce the kind of membership and traffic that the site now enjoys, but should we make it easy for them?
On the other hand, who gives a damn what idiots think?A penny saved is a penny gained0 -
YES "SIGNED" - I would love to get a signed copy, this would offset the cost. You would have to sell bulk quantities of white vinegar and bicarb for us old stylers too... It'd be like xmas getting a signed copy of the money diet, and bulk cleaning stuff all in one package.......
