Home organizer

Options
I've picked up lots of tips from all you clever bods, but one of the best was the idea for a home organizer file.
I've started one using a reduced price ring binder file, complete with dividers that I picked up ages ago. I've filled it with charts and info sheets that I found as free printoffs from a site called OrganizedHome.com.
The family now put all their reminders, appointments etc in it. The housework section has a page for everyone with their jobs detailed. We all know whats in the cupboards & freezer, the menu planner tells them what's on when I'm working late.
There is a contacts section, one for spring cleaning room by room, a holiday planner, a section for spending, bills, and a Christmas planner.
Hope we can keep it up, cos life is easier for all of us if we do.
If any one is interested, or has another site for freeprintoffs for this type of thing please post a reply.
I'm fairly new to MSE, but am addicted to it. Keep up the excellent work
Shoki

this sounds like a brilliant idea. Will work on it tomorrow. Microsoft outlook is good for creating calender pages/ to do pages so may look there. Has anyone else done this?

Yep, started last year. It is a great idea hey. This site was good at looking at different peoples binders and getting ideas. The site is a bit  OTT in other areas  :D but makes for interesting/addictive reading. :D

  • Thanks for the link Shoki, I'm in the process of moving at the moment and I think getting life more organised would be a great help!!

Will deffinatly be printing some of these ideas off when I go back to work on thursday... will even try and rescue some freebie ringbinders from the bin (we waste so much when we throw away the ringbinders and files that students hand their work in in... have suggested selling them for a few pence to new students and me but I just get snarled at by the boss  )

ooops sorry about the rant, things getting wasted for no reason just annoys me... gerrr :(

If you like that idea then I'd get the owner of Organizedhome's book Cut The Clutter. It's brilliant! I've read it cover to cover at least twice and on their forums at the minute is the start of a bookclub where they are working through a chapter a week. ;) The book covers all sorts of things, including making a household notebook, finance, and "freezer cooking". It was edited to be applicable here ;)

You can get the book from Amazon and the forums where they are discussing the book is here. When you are over there keep an eye out for moderator UK-Mum as thats me :D:rotfl:

That's pretty much how mine is set out vivw. I also added another section for *Gardening* as I would really like at some time to grow vegetables/herbs so I thought I"d like a section to include tips & what to grow each month etc.
