Just a negative point - when my 20-year-old Philips's door handle broke, I got a bottom-of-the-range Hoover which is supposed to be so clever that you don't need a half-load button, it senses the weight of the washing you've put in and adds water accordingly. Except, if I put a large light-weight article in, it came out only partially wetted and with dry powder still lodged in it.
Those nice ladies on the Ariel help line told me they had quite a few similar complaints about this type of machine.
In the end I got a Zanussi washer/dryer from Comet because a friend had one, but I would have nowhere near your usage.

Hi there
I have had a Zanussi for years, fell out with Hotpoint many years ago.
Have a look on
www.kelkoo.co.uk then have a look at www.qed-uk.com
Coolagarry told me about the qed site and it was the cheapest by far for my tumble dryer.
Good luck

I have just been on to buy the dryer and had a last look round as "she" changed her mind about the brand. Changed from White Knight to Zanussi. Curry's were the cheapest, they did not have the White Knight one the other day.
I used codes
NHSdiscounts - 5% and
XMASFD - free delivery over £99, ends £1/1/05
so I saved £30. Used my egg card so may be another 5% and greasy palms 1%

Mine is a much older model. Have no info on the new ones. They are usually good buys.

I had a good look round for advice before I bought our washer - I was advised that Miele were the best (but expensive) and bosch were a reasonable second - Bosch also faired pretty well in the Which? survey (can you get a 30 day trial membership and read the reports?). I bought a Bosch washer from qed, who were by far the cheapest at the time and I've been very happy with it.0
