Can creditors still take money out of your account after you have been made bankrupt?

I was made bankrupt in Feb 2010 and today (29th March) Barclaycard have taken nearly £200 out of my account without me knowing, can they do this??

    They shouldn't do once you are BR.

    Have you spoken to Barclays?

    If Barclays won't return the money then you should explain what has happened to your OR. They may be able to instruct Barclays to return the funds.

    Contact your OR first thing in the morning and let him know whats happened. Cancel the direct debit to the credit card too as it was probably this that has caused the error. It does time time for information to filter through the systems so by the time it takes the OR to contact the credit card company (up to 42 days) and then the company to actually act (some are fast, some not) then money can be paid in error.

    And get yourself over to the Bankruptcy board and ask all the questions you need to.

    was the account an old one which went into BR and not used or a new one for basic living expenses:)

    yeah I'd be interested to know if this was a old Barclays account or a new basic account set up for after BR and whether there was an active direct debit on the account for the Barclaycard. I made sure that all my direct debits were cancelled before I went BR.
