Hi
Dont know if this is the right place for this, apologies if it isn't.
Does anyone have a recipe, or know where I can get one, for a home made fly/insect repellant using citronella oil.
Many thanks

You can buy citronella in most chemists £3.00 for 100mls. I also use it for the horses, although I usually just put it in water with a splash of liquid soap/shampoo. I will try black tea though! same as, no quantities we just chuck it all togetherNovember £10 a day challenge. Im starting early- 66p so far!0

Mix 15 drops of essential oils to 1 pint of water in a spray bottle, and shake well before squirting into the air. Or put some onto a damp cloth and wipe around windows, door frames, wardrobe. spray onto curtains to try to repel airborne invaders.
A few drops of oil on pillowcase or mattress should help with mosquitoes, or dilute six drops of essential oil (use citronella or lemongrass) in 6 tsp of carrier oil such as wheatgerm or sunflower - if you have olive use that, rub into exposed skin. It will also sooth itchiness of any insect bites.
Best oils to use
Moths - camphor
Mosquitoes - citronella
Flying insects - lemongrass
Ants, fleas and other insects - tea tree
Hopping and crawling insects - thyme
For ants or cockroaches - make up spray containing 8 drops tea tree and 7 drops thyme in 30 mls water - spray on floors, area they are walking about.
Pet fleas - 6 drops of geranium,, 5 drops lavender, 4 drops tea tree in 30 mls of water in spray bottle. Spray into ruffled fur, avoiding eye area.0 -

(Also i think there is talk of this being banned for normal importation and that it will have to be on a sepcial import license, meaning inevitably short supply and very expensive, don't quote me on this though. Just get stocks in.Sainsbury CC - £1597.25 0% 18 mths left £37.57 Per month DD
