I'm getting married next year and we're on a shoestring budget. We have a big guest list unfortunately because of parents wanting to invite everyone they have ever met.
So instead of buying invites, or even making my own because the materials still work out very expensive, I'm going to photoshop up something nice and personalised, convert it to a PDF and email it to the guests.
What do you guys think? Would you be offended at not getting a physical invitation?

I've replied to the other thread to say I wouldn't mind receiving a virtual one.
But maybe this is just me, but I'd tell anyone who tries to arrange my guest list to have a party of there own. Don't mean to offend though.

Ah I can't annoy the financial backers, they are contributing to the cost and I'm an only child so they only get to do this once. I've realised that weddings are for the parents, honeymoons are for the couple

First of all congrats :T
1) I think getting invited is the most important part.
2) If they want a physical invitation they can always print it off.
3) If it was my wedding I would not want someone at the wedding that was so petty.

I think it's a good idea. Especially if you are going to personalise each email. Not the pdf obviously.

Sorry to break ranks, but I would much prefer to receive a plain, handwritten invitation, on a piece of paper, than an e-invite.
Thinking ahead a little, this may also result in a higher proportion of written replies, which you can treasure in the future.0 -
Hi
Congratulations mirakl - I hope you have a fabulous day & a blissful marriage.
I like the idea of a 'virtual' invitation very much for several reasons;
1. Like stormshelterdave I think getting invited is what matters.
2. You're going to make it yourself so it's much more personal than a mass produced invitation, so I'd treasure it.
3. It's environmentally very friendly.
4. This is YOUR day you should consider yourselves first so don't worry about what others think, do what's right for the two of you.

It wouldn't bother me in the least . I think it is a brilliant idea and a really nicely designed webpage with a wedding theme (easy to make and loads of freeby templates around to do your own) could be at the other end of a link for your guests.
You site could have other things on it - gift list, location details, link to multimap with directions, seating plan, gallery with photos on afterthe wedding, photos of the honeymoon (clean ones only please:D !)
PM me if you want any help doing asimple site - no charge of course!:D

I love keren's idea, plus you could set up an email address specifically for the wedding and everyone could reply via e-mail, thus giving you a confirmed guest list with little effort. The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!0
