It's all got a bit out of hand

...and i only have myself to blame. All i keep doing is putting things off, thinking it won't happen to me.
I KNEW Barclaycard had the right to offset from my Barclays account but i kept in touch with them and have made small payments to try and avoid it. I knew i should have set up another account elsewhere but i just kept putting it off.
Today they've swiped £120 from my account... I've just had a baby so am getting extra tax credits so can technically afford it but i was using that money for a cot we don't have one yet.
Anyway, i WAS on a DMP with CCCS, but when my ex was living here last year i managed to undo everything by delaying the payments/not resetting them back up...
I ended up being overwhelmed by it all over again and putting off the review.
Have rang them today and they won't let me start a new DMP with them due to the history of the account (i.e no payment since July 09). I can understand they closed the account but to not let me start again is upsetting.
What alternative is there to the CCCS and what are the differences? I really need to get this sorted but want all the interest frozen and need the support of people who know about this, because i'm getting 20+ phone calls a day about my debts (prob around £6k).

A lot of people use Payplan. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

I have recently set up a DMP with Payplan and they have been fantastic.
They are a similar company to CCCS and you can manage your account online.
You can look them up online easily enough.
Everyone makes mistakes so try not to worry to much.
I would change your bank account though so Barclays can't take any more money!(c) Broke in Yorkshire. ( there are worse places )
Those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter!0 -
I would say try payplan aswell.
Also try and get that bank account sorted if you try today you might be able to get next weeks money in to the new accounts instead in to barclays.0 -
or the CAB .if you can get appointment ...ive been with them for over a year on a DMP ..basically do the same as cccs and payplan ...0

Thanks everyone i have filled in the form on Payplan site, and they rang me back within 30 mins  I was just on my way to docs with baby though so they're ringing me back tonight.
I did this before i'd even gathered all the unopened debt letters together to give the right info, so obviously the best incentive to do it fast and i think i've got everything but Argos card, can't find anything at all for that. I wanted to write up my income/expenditure beforehand but haven't so i'll just do it with them when they ring.
Was upsetting to see how much my debts have inflated due to charges on the letters0 -
Payplan won't deal with me because my debts are less than £8k.
Oh and after a rough calculation it would seem my debts are smaller than i thought, and more like £3k-£4k, must have made a dent with CCCS after all.
So Payplan sent me a PDF doc with instructions on how to deal with it all myself. So overwhelmingI think i wish i was in £8k debt so they'd help
lol!

There are lots of people on the board dealing with this themselves. There are template letters you can send and lots of advice. Don't worry, you're not doing this on your own! After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
Thank you - i did the first step - i set up a Natwest Step account, so once i get the info for it i will change my benefits to be paid into there, but going to keep my Barclays acct open for now as i want to keep my additions account i have loads of stuff insured on it plus RAC cover works out cheaper than doing it individually.
Think i might set up a DFW diary soon, going to ring Argos and ask if i have any debt with them, it was only ever £200 so i might have paid it already. It's going to be hard paying my £400 overdraft and not dipping into it...
Is it ever possible that they could turn the overdraft into a seperate debt so i don't have access to any payments i've made towards it?0 -

I don't understand - my bank account is -£400 (and has been for years). If i pay say £15 a month into it, it's still accessible because the actual overdraft isn't getting lower each month. If that makes sense?
I'd prefer if i could make repayments same way as i do to CC's, where there'll never be more 'credit' for me to use. I do have some self control but if there was an emergency and i knew it could be used then it would be IYSWIM? But i couldn't do that with say Captial One!0
