Hi Guys
Finally managed to crack the homemade hummous and got it just the way I like - thanks to previous hummous threads of course, and a bit of practice, and a lot of eating less than perfect hummous.
Now I want to jazz up my plain hummous into something a little more gourmet n yummy - as its soooooo cheap to make I hope to eat it for lunch 2-3 times per week over the summer when I can eat loads of cheap veggies too.
Ideas so far are :
Roasted red pepper
Lime and Coriander
Sun dried tomato and basil
Any other suggestions - I will happy to make them and report back

Lemon infused oil - I was given some as a present and it is gorgeous with hummous. Other flavoured oils might be equally nice.
hold back a few whole chickpeas to decorate and sprinkle with red stuff (cayenne, paprika etc)
sprinkle with toasted seed mix (sesame, pumpkin and sunflower)0 -
M&S do a nice Morrocan topped one that has whole chickpeas, softly cooked red onion and spices on it. I think it's got some oil on it too, and I *think* the spices might be ras el hanout or something similar. It's really tasty.0

for an sandwich filling mix with grated carrot or chopped red pepper - good in baked potatos too. also use to top pasta with fried mushrooms and 'water down' with a little milk and heat.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. A little pureed pumpkin/butternut squash is good, as is pureed or finely chopped black olives and mashed avocado. In terms of toppings, try caramelised onions or sauteed lamb mince (cook it with a pinch of ground cumin and a pinch of ground cinnamon). There's a cafe in London that specialises in hummus - you get a plate of hummus and a topping, it's a great cheap & cheerful lunch! Try using their menu as "inspiration"!2015 comp wins - £370.25

Thanks everyone - scribbled all your ideas on the bottom of my hummous recipe.
Other ideas
Preserved lemon and cracked pepper
Parsley and lemon
Roasted garlic
Thanks for the menu link - all looks soooooo scrummy.
Think I could have a frugal lunch more than a couple of times a week now - esp when the garden produce kicks in.

Hi
I like to stir in a spoonful of pesto to hummous - tastes yummy!0 -
One of the most yummy snacks I had recently was a small pot of Hummous with a dollop of Red Pesto on top with Rosemary Foccacia bread sticks to dip in it from Boots.
I might look up the recipes as was really yummy and would love to try and recreate it !!
