Need help advice RE HFO Capital

Hi

My DH received a letter today from Roxburge Debt Collectors, we got home after 6 so he wasn't able to ring tonight but he will be ringing tomorrow.

The letter states he owes around £400 to HFO Capital, but he doesn't know what it's for. We've just checked his credit report and there's nothing untoward on there for that amount of money so confused as to what we can do now, if it isn't his then what can we actually do?

Thanks in advance :)

  • Don't ring under any circumstances, look up the 'prove it' letter and send it by recorded post. Once they get hold of your phone number you'll be getting calls several times a day. It is up to them to prove you owe it, not for you to prove you don't.

There are a lot of Debt Collection companies sending letters to folk they think might be gullible enough to pay debts which are Statute Barred, if they bully you enough.

Basically, if you don't owe it, don't pay it! Also, if you are in England a debt remaining unpaid becomes uncollectable after 6 years since the last written acknowledgement. (5 years in Scotland).

    Cheers, HG
