Disposable ashtrays

Following on from the plastic bags/ overpackaging etc threads...
This weekend we went away and I noticed, in every single bar/restaurant we went to they had foil ashtrays
obviously the thinking is, when they are busy it's easier to collect and throw them away than be constantly cleaning multiple ashtrays , but it made me so angry!
It's yet another thing where laziness/ convenience rules over concience.
I asked the bar manager if they recycled them and she looked at me as if I'd asked her to wax my legs for me..
Imagine how many they throw away, and thinking about it on a larger scale, I remember seeing these many times before in all different bars/restaurants/cafes, which will add up to so much unneccesary waste.
another gripe I had was a hot dog stall in our resort..selling a hot dog in a card tube, with a napkin around it, placed on a plastic tray..argh!grr

i agree but also i think smoking is a horrible habit so may be enclined to hate the ash trays as well!I Don't like you!0

well smoking's going to happen anyway, and any dicussion about it will cause debate , hence I dind't start up any arguement for/against it in this thread.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0

I do agree.
Incidentally a mate of mine bought me a personal ashtray that we take if we are going on days out, long walks to the beach, camping etc. Very nice it was too at Octopus.
Surfers against sewage last year were also giving away free portable ashtrays I got one for the festival season. Ahh looks like they are doing them again

Definatley worth having even if you are not a smoker, they are small enough to carry round if there is anyone in your party who is going to drop thier fags ends.:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
