Nose bleeds - quick fix

Hi,
Money saving tip in the sense you save on loads of tissues once you have a nosebleed!
If you put some ice on the bridge of your nose once the nose bleed begins, bleeding will stop v quickly. (think the theory is that the ice will constrict the blood vessels going to your nose and stop the bleeding).
Hope this helps (apologies if it's been posted before but i did a search and couldn't find it)

If you are going to do this be sure to wrap the ice in something first as it could cause a nasty ice burn. Or use a bag of frozen peas!!!Coming soon............
Brand new baby first showing in November!
Brand new baby boy (Matthew) born 3 weeks early weighing a diddly 5lb 4 oz!!0 -
And always tip your head forward not back (the blood goes down your throat otherwise)!
Great tip thanks :-)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
I'll have to try that next time
I've inherited nosebleeds from my dad. When I was a teen I could trigger one just by washing my face with a flannel!
I'll never forget the time I was visiting my nan in a nursing home and one of the nurses was having a nosebleed - her colleagues were telling her to put her head back - she was moaning that it was going down her throat... well, duh!My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
We got this tip from my son's consultant when he had his adenoids removed and also suffered from lots of nosebleeds. It was that once the nosebleed was over to put vaseline up his nose onto the thin lining. He said that as the lining was so delicate any scab that there was easily dislodged so that the vaseline would make the area more supple and not dry it out so that the scab would be broken and so the nose bleed again.
This worked for us - we had quite a few years of stained sheets before this and it was so simple.0 -
Great tip! My sons go through stages of nosebleeds, although they seem to be growing out of them gradually, and it's usually been worse in summer so I think it's a hayfever thing ... But not nice when they come home with blood all over a school shirt!babiebeany wrote:We got this tip from my son's consultant when he had his adenoids removed and also suffered from lots of nosebleeds. I think you are right about the time of year - my son has had a few nosebleeds over the past few weeks as well.
We had thought that he had grown out of them but this hot and humid weather has set him off again0
