Sup Smile Bright TOOK MONEY FROM MY VISA WITHOUT MY AUTHORISATION

Ordered free trial kit from SMILEBRIGHT only had to pay for shipping, which was $1. Now a few weeks later, 3 Separate transactions have come out of my account without my authorisastion totalling £140.00.

This was supposed to be a free trial with no obligation, when i tried to contact the company was told i should have cancelled in the 14 day trial period didnt know there was a 14 day trial period, no where said 14 day trial.

It appears from my statement that they are taking money every two weeks. And I don't think it will stop now.. I cannot find anyone to talk to about this. Trying to call them is totally frustrating.

My bank (Barclays) won't stop payments as they say I authorized them. I asked to cancel my card (my debit card, connected to my current account which is the info I gave Smile Bright), then they said it wont make a difference. They will still carry on charging on my next card. How is this possible. I yelled how can you not protect me from this? Eventually i asked to be put through to supervisor and in the end I spoke to someone in the dispute dept. They told me it will take 31 days for them to be able to basically stop everything.

Its ridiculous as they could take another payment while i am waiting, they are supposed to help, but they are making things worse,

I Am frustrated and don't know what to do. There must be some way to stop them. Do I have to close my account with Barclays or what? what should I do. Does anyone know?

cancel your card, it will be different numbers if they still take money, and your bank refuse to stop it must be direct debit, which then if you have banking online you should be able to stop it there, well on my online it shows all my direct debits, and theres a botton to click to cancel them
  • I had the same problem, only I have a premier account with Lloyds, and the fraud squad department have got me my money back £140, given me a new card, and all I now have to do is sign a declaration they're sending out to me next week, and it's all sorted. :T

Keep on to your bank - they do have the authority to get it cancelled.

When I'd ordered the free trial, I had a virtual conversation with someone on that site. I asked them to confirm that no other monies would go out of my account, and they said nothing like that would happen. I was gobsmacked when I saw my bank statement after coming back off holiday!

Apparently what they are doing is perfectly legal as the terms and condition is where it states that they are going to take the money from your account.

I now read all terms and conditions to make sure I don't get in that sort of mess again.

    Hi
Just checked my satement and have also had £78.50 charged to my credit card called Lloydstsb to question transaction the said it was a spa in Singapore. Told them not my transaction and they cancelled card there and then and will re-issue new one with different number. It wasn't until I read this thread that the penny dropped. I did apply for a tooth whitening kit which I never reeived I did have a charge for 98p on my credit card statement for youth health in USD, but did not follow it up as such a small amont. The distance selling act is on our side if we did not receive the product. LLoyds have a excellent fraud team and I am confident that this transaction will be charged back to who ever. It is a little bit easier if you pay by credit card to get your money back. Anybody else managed to get there money back and stop this scam. Also I had some strange e-mails that went into my spam saying UPS where unable to deliver a parcel gave a tracking number did not open the email ( e-mail address ok but my surname was wrong on please open message) but went direct to UPS and they have no trace of any parcel so beware.
  • Does anyone have the e-mail address or contact number for the company as I cant seem to track them down now, and I, like the rest of you have been duped into this scam aswell.
