Co-op and early dd's

Hi everyone,
Just need a bit of help please. I have just logged onto co-op as was panicking that 2 direct debits were due out tomorrow (the 1st actually but with it being n/year and weekend, they should go out tomorrow). It was my plan to juggle the money about  but to by horror both dd's went out at approx 4pm today . That means that if some items in transit (debit card payments etc) are taken 1st thing in morning, it will send me overdrawn.
If I go to the p/office at opening time in morning will the cash be credited instantly? and also surely dd's don't usually happen on Sunday do they? This is the first time I have come across this problem.
Help! Sorry for rambling it's just that I don't want to tarnish my account with the co-op
Thanks in advance for any pointers

Hi, even though they appear to have come out on your onlne statement, if you look at the date it will most likely say the 4th.
And yes if you put money in via the post office it is credited to your account immediately.0 -
If you are paying in first thing in the morning might be worth letting them know. According Co-op T&Cs cleared funds should be in the account by 9pm the working day before the payments are due so even with the payments going out on the 4th the funds should have been in there on the 31st.0

Hi riches,
yes it does say 4th but they still have taken the money. Does this mean that I would have a reason to argue it if I get charged do you think?

As mjm said, it might be worth calling them first thing if the T&C's say 9am.
Good luck0 -

Yes they are odd ones coop. I quite often show being overdrawn on payday. my wages go in but the standing orders and DD's are taken before the money is credited. Its never a problem but just looks really odd0

hi,
I was told that the cashminder has a 2 strikes and your are out policy....I went over re a dd in early days of BR and they were fine about it. But was warned best to be v careful for future as after two missed payments they start to question your ability to run the account. So I would not worry on this occasion, esp as after the NY things are always coming out at funny times but I am being bit ultra careful for future. Would phone, as has already been suggested so they can put a note on your account to show that you are paying in cash to cover too.BR Nov 2009 thinking about the future for the first time in 3 yrs!:j first step to moving on! plus will never ever sign anything for anyone in business ever again!0 -
ive checked my account today and 2 dd have come out that arent even set up yet, they dont even show on the dd section?? confused but luckily there is the money in there to cover them
i have noticed sometimes my tax credits go in on a sunday when due the monday. it also has the sundays date but you look again monday and the date has changed

So on reading this thread, our rent is due to go out on the 15th of the month as that is when hubby gets paid, but it could go out on the 14th so in theory we need to make sure we have that rent in just in case? There is no way we can do that, so I think I will make the dd for the 16th just to be on the safe side.
Hope you get it sorted out ok pmg.0 -
Hi all and thanks for responses. I checked 1st thing this morning and fortunately the items (paid by debit card) in transit had not yet been cashed so it did not send us o/d. I phoned the bank anyway and they were very nice and understanding as it was the holiday period and confusing dates. I still went to the post office and paid some cash in to make doubly safe.

In a Mess - yes I would just change the dd dat if you can. It is better to be safe.
I'm glad dates are all back to normal now as it is a nightmare with co-op online being a tad slow :rolleyes:Discharged May 20100
