Out of date Medication

Hi Guys and Gals,
I was wondering how people here get rid of old medicine?
I remember being told many years ago to take it to a chemist and ask them to dispose of, do they still do this as I have clearly never got rid of old medication. I have some expiry date 1998
However, I don't want to chuck it in the bin for landfill.
Can anyone tell me what they do?
Thanks
Murtle

Yes you can take it to the chemist or to your GP's surgery (there are usually signs in reception in my surgery about this).
I took a bin bag of items up recently !

I don't know if they do this but worth a try definitely. I know some other European countries like France and Italy have organised systems for dealing with unused medication. Given all the problems with pharmaceuticals in the environment then hopefully if you take it to the doctors/chemist they can advise you.0

Yes I'm sure the chemist will take it in for you.0

I always give mine to the GP surgery. I was on some pretty strong stuff a while back and took it back while it was still in date, because it was a bit tempting sitting there.:o :eek:May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Thank you peps, I will bag it up and take it to a chemist then, there is a lot but it will be great to get rid of it all. I have moved house 4 times with this lot coming with me each time
it has to go.
Thanks
