OR not take interest in 2 coop bank accounts?

good evening to you all:D
well i have been reading your posts as usual .im booked for the 9th dec and questions are buzzing in my mind.
i have 2 halifax accounts which i assume will be closed (overdraft and credit card debt with halifax).i also opened up a cash minder with coop (joint names with hubby who went bankrupt in april)and changed all payments in to this account to use for bills and day to day etc.
i receive direct payments from the council (via social services)to help pay for my care etc.i was told by social services that this money had to be paid into a seperate account for this only so i opened another
cash minder in my sole name and it gets paid into this.
will the OR let me have both the coop accounts as one is day to day living and one is to pay the carer?

Your bank accounts should be fine. Glad you opened them and arranged your money to be paid into them because chances are Halifax will have your accounts frozen before you even get home from court!

  • thanks for your replies! yeah i heard and have read alot on here that halifax can be quite quick.i made sure that everything was sorted following advice on here thankfully.
im expecting loads of calls from them and letters have already started.why arent ORs interested in cashminders?
curly,i wish i was in the same position where you are now and it was all over as im worried sick.i bet you were too.
ive been such a grouch over it all today-snapped at my 13 yr old for nothing and irritated by my 18 month old which isnt like me at all.
i seem to be getting angry all the time but not sure if its all money worries as hubby thinks its grieving over my nan passing away.funeral was last week.
i feel like just going to sleep all the time to get away from it all but i know it wont help.
anyway sorry for my moan but i dont really talk to anyone about how i feel as they just think i can cope with anything but inside i cant and its eating away at me.

im expecting loads of calls from them and letters have already started.why arent ORs interested in cashminders? Because they have no credit facilities. They wouldn't be interested in a basic account from any bank, it is the banks that don't allow you to have an account.

Everyone is allowed a good moan on here. IT is one place you can take out your frustrations!!

  • Just to let you know I asked the Coop if I could open a seperate cashminder account to put 'savings' (IE tax and other yearly costs) in to make sure I don't touch it and they said this would be fine. I explained I am about to go bankrupt and they confirmed that the accounts will be fine, I have asked this question of them on a few occasions during the process of opening the first account and everyone I spoke to at the bank has said theres no problem with thier accounts and BR. One person (rightly or wrongly) said that the worst case scenario is that the account will be frozen for 48 hours but once the OR sees it is a cashminder account it will be reopened straight away. They just advised to take enough cash out to cover you for that time.

With regards to the feelings you are having I know exactly how you feel, except I have an 18 month old and am heavily pregnant instead of a 13 year old. I am so sorry to hear about your nan. Maybe your husband is right but I seem to be very irritable a lot and am finding it hard to keep my patience with my toddler, I have to keep reminding myself that it is only money and it will be sorted (on the 22nd December in my case). I have asked the doctors surgery to put my name down for councelling but don't know how long that will take.
Also my best way of keeping calm about it is thinking of how much less stress we will have once it is sorted and that our children and the main priorities :)

I hope you feel better soon and if you want to talk just PM me. But we are in the right place here as there are so many helpful supportive people around, it amazes me and I have never seen anything like it :)
