SOA - question for londoners

hi,
Can anyone confirm if a monthly tube pass Z1-2 is deemed as acceptable travel costs on a SOA?
guideline is 30 quid for public transport a month and this is over triple that ...
also, please can anyone explain the statement that is sometimes quoted on the board of "you can argue the decision" in relation to IPA's and SOAs being accepted.
Is there any links / literature on how this works anywhere?
I think i remember reading you need to inform the OR within a month of your circumstances changing, will they then send you out the paperwork to fill in or do you just email them your new info,
cheers,
Bman

Your costs are your costs, that is why it is a guidline, if this is the cheapest practical method of getting to work (including walking) then it will be accepted.
When people say argue the decision, what they mean is that it is a negotiation at this point and as long as you can give reasonable reasons why an amount is essential it may be accepted. You should not just put down what the guidance figure is be it more or less than what is needed as the OR can question what you have put and ask for evidence. Put down what is actually needed in your personal situation.
If you have a change in circumstances you should put it in writing to the OR, if they think it will make a difference they will send out a new income/expenditure sheet to fill outHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

thanks for your response debtinfo - i guess i'm unsure as its all its all subjective really what is "reasonable" or "practical " . is walking an hour each way to work reasonable, or is half an hour reasonable or etc - you know what i mean anyhow.
i guess i was wondering if anyone from london has this on their SOA and it was approved. The buses can in some circumstances be cheaper than tube passes, but they can take much longer in some cases.AD - 23/04/2010

That is the problem im afraid and i suppose the answer is that you might as well put it down, the worst that can happen is that it will be knocked offHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

I agree with DI. Put it down and then IF it is queried fight your corner. The OR's know what things cost and are human and usually quite reasonable.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

If you live in London and buy a Zone 1-2 travel card you should have no problem as that would be deemed the most practical way to travel. My Zone 1-5 was never questioned and that is over £40 per week!

I make a journey into London once a week for work (live just outside, but within the M25) and a ticket costs £21 a pop. I added this in, and told the OR, and they said it was fine - even allowed me to put in the £5 station car park in too! Just be clear and honest with them - they realise that London transport is expensive compared with the rest of the UK.0
