Hi guys, I am stuck for thoughts and just know you guys will have some brilliant ideas.
My brother and his wife are due their first (long awaited IVF) baby in Feb next year.
Now they are so excited and have bought heaps of stuff for her alreay (she is a girl) she will have enough clothes to wear one outfit each day till she is 2! They have already stocked up on nappies, wipes etc. so I don't really fancy doing the ususal baby hamper as they have all the usual things already.
Can you think of someting special I can get her - not the ususal clothes, silver photo frame etc? I have a couple of months so anything would be considered. I have already bought them the baby monitor that they wanted but I want to get something for the baby as gift when she arrives.
Any ideas greatly received.
Thanks guys x

How about a charm bracelet? Buy a charm celebrating that she has been born and then you can add to it over the years (birthdays, first tooth etc) and by the time shes old enough to wear it responsibly then it will be full of charms!
If I would of had a girl then I would of thought this a lovely idea
Think my wee boy might look a bit silly with one lol! 0 -
What a lovely idea! Might be a daft question but what size - an adult one?You can stand there and agonize........

My friend bought my son (now 6 months old) a beautiful cuddly bear.
I had never thought before then to get something like this as a gift for a new born, but i still have my bear from when i was born, and i'm 37 now (although its very worn). Its nice to look back now at photos of me with my bear when i was little.0 -
My friends have a 7 month old baby and they have just gone to a professional photographer to get some photos done. This can be on the pricey side but the photos do look amazing, so perhaps you could get them a session with a photographer (depending on how much you want to spend) - even if they didn't cash it in for a while, could still be nice to have!0

I suppose its really upto yourself. My mum got me an adult sized one (because as she said id probably lose it if I wore it before 21 haha:rolleyes:) Although it was a baby gift I was given it at 18 - was lovely!
It was kept in my 'good' jewellery box until then.
An adult one could hold more charms I suppose, not sure if they do childrens ones. Hmmm I feel the need to investigate now. Might be worth checking with a few jewellers, they will be able to advise you a lot better than me.
(I never lost it btw

How about a bronze casting kit so that they can make an imprint of their little one's hands/feet? You can buy them on ebay quite cheaply just search baby casting kit and they look fantastic once done & will last forever.
I also think the photo session idea is great, my mum's friend is a photographer and does fantastic newborn shots - you could even get them a few sessions ie. one of mum in late stages of pregnancy, one newborn, one at 6 months old and one at a year old. It'll be a present that just keeps on giving throughout the first year and will be treasured forever. Im sure if you rang round some local photographers they would be able to give you a good price for a few sessions & then the parents could purchase whichever pics they want.
I must say you're very thoughtful :A:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
How about a beautiful blanket. I always used my baby blankets lots and still have the blankets I bought my children home in and use them to tuck them up on cold nights. I have bought all my friends pretty blankets for their babies and they have all commented on what a lovely and useful gift it was.0

See I knew you would come through ~ you are all Brilliant! :T :T:T
Katelu - my DS takes his baby blanket to bed every night and it goes on holiday with us ~ he is 10 now! Thats a brilliant idea - now to hunt down the perfect one.
Princess & Annie- I also love the idea of the casting kit and the photos. Im only a bit concerned that the photos might be a bit too pricey.
Actually, they will probably take a million photos so you have made me think perhaps a digital photoframe for mum and dad.
Jan - the bear idea is another one that I want to do - I did have a look at the Steiff's recently but they all looked a bit scary, I wonder if you can get a baby one......
Nikki - the adult bracelet is a great idea, that way I will never be stuck for a birthday idea in the years to come.
I now have the problem that I want to buy all of these things, perhaps I will do a hamper after all and get one of each!!!!!
Will have to get saving.
Thanks again guys - any more ideas gratefully received. You can stand there and agonize........
