Toshiba Laptop (Windows 7) is this a good deal?

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-4831.aspx

Thinking about this one for my first laptop :-) double points & TCB % would reduce it by about £10 - but is it a good model? not many reviews out there in webland!

I think you will find that Sempron CPU limiting in what you can do and the performance you experience from the machine. I would look to get a machine with a beefier CPU. It does not look like it comes with much RAM either.

I was advised that the acer was a good buy on the Tesco website - also no need to pay straight away on this deal and also double points. I am still deciding.

It depends how tight your budget is. For £380 there are a range of Toshibas with dual core processors and three times as much RAM. £300 is really entry level, the extra £80 will give you a more enjoyable computer and make it more future proof i.e. you will be able to keep using it for longer. The build quality with Toshiba is normally good so expect a well specced model to last 4 years as your main computer if that helps you work out he cost per year.

We're now on our fourth Tosh, my gf got one of the £380 models this week and it is really fast.

Hi, this is the one we've ordered for our daughter for christmas (she's saved almost £200 and is intending to save her "christmas" money and buy one in the new year but her grandparents and us are surprising her instead ;) )
