Can a discharged Bancrupt have a paymet holiday on their mortgage?

Discharged March this year, but old banger of car needs £500 repairs and as you know-this type of money is near on imposible to save or put by. We have no IPA.

I am desperate to get it repaired as otherwise going to have to change working pattern at work due to poor public transport, and may find it difficult.

Only option is to ask for payment holiday or temporary trf to interest only but wanted to know if anyone else had been able to do this or am I living in cloud cuckoo land?

Desperately hoping someone knwos the answer

There is no reason why a BR couldn't have a payment holiday but if your mortgage is interest only its unlikely.

or...if old banger not a close family friend, or heirloom...why not spend less to buy another old banger..and get rid of banger no.1?

At least with this old banger Mummy knows all the problems it has, with a new old banger she could be opening up a whole new can of worms.

maybe not as many worms as she has now?

Mummy's mortgage isn't interest only....Mummy asked if it could be converted to one?

I know this may be daft, and may not be appropriate to Mummy, but, if running an existing, known can-of-worms, a good way of dealing with the expensive worms is to DIY...

It ain't hard...not as hard as painting/sketching/decorating...and much of the expense of a can-of-worms [or whatever the Korean is for that]...goes on labour charges.

MSE actually has a forum for such matters........

as an example, I own a couple of tonnes of best swedish steel, just out of its [19year] guarentee.....to completely renew the braking system, ie the cost of parts, came to around £100....and really was a doddle to do..very much, plug'nplay....lovely heavy parcels through the door too.

got a manual from Age Concern too....

but then..I don't trust yer average garage anyway...

I don't think I'd trust something like brakes to my OH to do however he has become quite handy fixing many other household things due to necessity - can't afford anyone else to come in and do repairs.

you are right to be wary concerning brakes...however..they either 'work' or they don't....replacement of pads/linings is a one-for-one swap, at the worst involving skinned knuckles.

    discs/drums are the same.

the only real failure issues could occur when replacing cylinders/brake pipes and fluid.

car brakes really are only one step up from a bycycle.
