Mortgage Early Exit Fee

Hi,

I had a mortage with GMAC but exited early because i sold the property (split with my ex).

At the time i was chaged nearly £8k for cancelling the mortage after 2, nearly 3, years.

Is there anything that can be done to try and get some of the £8k back from the lender?

I sold the propery in 2007.

Thanks

    concur with Andy.

You buy a deal on a special rate and agree a tie in. If you repay before the tie in ends you pay the penalty. Its a similar position to getting a mobile phone on a contract or a free sky dish and installation in return for staying for a certain period.

By the way you did ask this back in 2007 but again didn't bother to respond or thank the person that replied.
