This thread is specifically to discuss feedback for the

HowCashMyGold Postal Gold Company
(
Link)

Postal gold companies, where you pop your old jewellery in an envelope & they melt it down and send you a cheque, have boomed in the past couple of months. We’re researching a guide to selling old gold, and need help from folks who’ve used these companies.

If you've used this company, please can you tell us the following...
  • When did you use it
  • What did you send it
  • How much did it promise you
  • How much did it deliver
  • How efficient was the service
  • If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason
  • Anything else other people should know

Important note for Representatives of Gold Companies

We will be monitoring the threads, and if we believe any company has got its own representatives to deliberately post positive feedback (or negative on its competitors) it will be deleted, and we will count that as negatively towards any company's reliability and trustworthyness.

  • Emailed & spoke to them 20th Oct 09. Website said i would get about £72 plus change. Sent one gold wedding ring on the 21st. Got a call on 22nd saying they would pay £71 as the weight was slightly different. (I had no problem with this as I had measured it on kitchen scales). Money was in my account later that day. Service was excellent although no Freepost envelope but only a couple of pounds to send.
  • I was quoted a price of £272.70 for a gold bracelet on 24th August. Posted it by special delivery same day. Received phone call next day confirming price of £272.70 which I accepted and the money was transferred direct to my bank account. An excellent company to deal with, wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
  • Isn't this company called HowCashForGold as per link rather than HowCashMyGold as in the thread title? This mistake may mean that people won't leave reviews because they can't see the name listed of the company they used.

No experience myself, just reading the threads with interest for future use. :)
  • I would agree, the link is correct but the name is wrong (at the moment)

  • Hi we used this company last week, we were quoted £311 on line and sent the gold special delivery, the nexy day received a phone call with an offer of £305, a £6 shortfall we put down to our scales, the money was in our account the next day. What a good company we have even recomended them to our friends.
  • I used this firm back in October following a recommendation. The amount paid was actually as per the quote and my own calculations based on using the kitchen scales. I posted the gold recorded delivery, the next afternoon I received a call confirming the quote and upon acceptance the money was immediately transferred into my account. I was astonished how quickly and efficiently this was carried out and I had no hesitation in recommending to others who I know have since had similar success.
  • hmmmmm strange...all first time posters complimenting
  • Agreed, the first time posters on this thread does look a bit suspicious but only half of them were registered Nov'09, so would take these reviews on a 50/50 chance.

I'm thinking of using these myself. If I do, I will let you know how I get on.
  • HI

I am one of the newbies who have commented on Lois Jewellery - I joined this forum purely to add my experiences with two different companies - a lot of people are selling gold at the moment - and there are a lot of people who are getting ripped off - surely it is not beyond credulity that others just might feel strong enough about a particular subject to do as I have done?

Do not automatically assume that new members are bogus - its insulting!
