Long time lurker, New to the MFW concept, as of JAN 2009 but catching up very fast.....
The OH however, who does see the point and supports to some extent is just not in to daily interest rates, spreadsheets or writing down and rechecking figures, cannot get into the MFW spirit so your help and advice please, on two points.
(P.S Im very balanced in terms of not living it, and still having fun and the odd holiday etc..)
1 ) Has anyone got a surfire way of getting OH`s on board ?
2) Ive reached a bit of milestone with the OP in that im damn near 25% through OP, so time for a bit of celebration with OH. What should it be?
Can anyone come up with something a bit more original than a meal out ?

Hi
1) Nope, I've tried everything and while he's supportive he's just not interested in spreadsheets etc and doesn't see why he shouldn't just buy himself a TV (£300) new phone (£150) and a sound-system (£400)!
2) Do you like activities? You could go to Go Ape or AirKix or the Snowdome.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

I sat down with OH and showed her how we could save £50,000 in interest payments by reducing mortgage from 22 years to 10 years!
Simply increased the mortgage by £500 a month

Hi OP looks like your in a similar situation to me. I'd also love to know the answer to OP's question re getting hubby onboard 100%. He is happy making the overpayments. Have tried showing him the figures but he gets a glazed over look. Good luckMFiT-T2 Questee number 1460

Blatant bribery worked for me. Since 2003, we've gone to Vegas on holiday every other summer - I promised that when we had paid the mortgage off, we'd change to going every summer. That did the trick and, despite the odd whinge here and there (and complete disregard for my spreadsheet fetish), that did the trick. We're now a whole 381 days away from being mortgage free at 29.Mortgage Free: 28/10/2010Time / Interest Saved: 18.5 years / £61,866.500

Make them sit down and look at the numbers, whatever you want from cars, TV's and holidays can be bought from the savings available to you by not handing money over to the banks in interest.RosieTiger - Highest £242,000 Feb 2004

I so recognise that! I may as well be talking about the effects of the bolivian coffee price on US/south america relations. If your not dead & not on the floor, get up and crack on. and stop whinging.0 -
