Default ...wanna be debt free...first need to calculate my debt!

Hi guys!

So I have just joined to use this forum, so far I have seen loads of good tips and advice to become debt free.

I am serious about becoming debt free, so today I am calculating my debt to the penny and creating a signature like the rest of you, that way I can see it going down.

Things I aim to do to become debt free:
- Sell all my unwanted items on ebay
- Stop buying non essential items - clothes, make up etc (Christmas list)
- Try to find budget price xmas presents
- Turn electricity off if not using!
- Some my debts out so I don't keep paying charges
- Make extra money!! HOW!? What is the best survey site to join?

Plan for the day, get orgainsed!

Goodluck - well done you on having your moment of thinking OK lets get this sorted (Lightbulb Moment!!) its all about small steps - post your SOA (statement of affairs) on here and let folks give you some advice.

Many of us have really benefited from posting on the 'what small things thread' its up just now as a weekend thread and its started everyday fresh and we just list those small things we will do 'today' to move ourselves slightly forward. Give it a bash as well its fun - a real variety of folks post there and it really helps form good habits!

Hi

Yay I got a reply!

Thanks for showing me this page, I have had a read through. I don't think I'm ready to use this high tech calculator yet. I'm getting organised, putting all my statements together at the moment!

I'm setting up a folder to try and help me keep track!

Aiming to just work out the figure I owe today!

One step at a time! I will then need to work out my total in and out!

Thanks

Anyone know what's the best survey site I can join to gain reward!?? x

Hi and welcome

Sounds like you have a good list there gemmy, and another important step is creating a detailed financial statement of affairs (as per the link IIDT gave).

Also look through your bills/costs for mobile, broadband, landline, paid TV, and all insurances and check if you can get cheaper elsewhere - use comparison sites and if you switch check if you can gett cashback from quidco (or others). Look at package deals for tv, broadband & telephone.

If you shop online a lot and don't belong to quidco then sign up now.

Read the up your income board on MSE for ideas about surveys and review sites and also for details of the free bingo site scratchcards. Join up to several survey sites for the best returns - I like pcone as you earn £3 vouchers for each survey you do and don't have to wait until you have earned a set amount unlike with some sites.

Good luck

Hi

Yes I will make the detailed account once I have everythig in order and sorted out. My mobile and broadband are cheap but on contracts so I can't change these right now. I don't have a landline, and have paid my tv license. I am on a water meter, have no gas and my electric so far in my new place has been £8 per month so my bills are pretty low! My contents insurance is £5 per month and my car insurance was about £300 but I shopped around for the cheapest price at the time. My debt has come from moving out of home having to set up a new place!

pcone?? Where do I find this, I have googled with no luck!?

Thanks for your advice

Hi gemmy

Pcone send refferals to its members evey once in a while thats the only way you can join
A couple of survey sites I use are Lightspeed (pays into Paypal account) YouGov need £50 to cashout I'm still nowhere near after 18 months, some peeps do quite well from it, acouple of others I used to do are Taluna and Valued Opinions, pay out in vouchers
I'm unlucky and get screened out of most

Another is Daily Clicks, have a look at this thread
Free Daily Cashback from sites - Q&A Board
They can take a good few hours a day
and takes about 5/6 months before you start getting any money back, but after that its pretty steady extra money
Best ones I do at the moment are GetPoundsBack £100 Cascade £88 and SearchChief, £77, and TopCashBack £61 and a few others, Thats what I've been paid this year, but most are from starting octber the previous year

Another way is to use CashBack sites for buying things online, insurance, shopping loads of stuff, includeing free signups
Just a few Ideas
