Somerfield vouchers

Options
In January's edition of their free magazine, Somerfield are offering a voucher £5 off Talisker single malt whisky. Does anyone know if any other store e.g. Asda, Tesco etc: will accept this off total shop please.
We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars........................

As far as I know, Asda/Tesco would only accept the coupon if you bought the actual product. They won't just accept it as 'money off' as they will with other vouchers. :(

Feel free to correct me if anyone knows different!
  • Hi All,

In the current fortnightly offers list that Somerfield have (sent in some areas in your local free newspaper, also available in store), there is a voucher giving £5 off a £50 spend.

This voucher is valid for two weeks (same as the validity of the offers in the leaflet), and is deducted off the final total (i.e. after Saver Card reductions), so if using it, check your total after all offers is still over £50.

Voucher is marked one per customer per transaction, but I suppose you could get as many as you like from the shop and just use the at different times.

    Cheers

  • It's not very money saving to be shopping at Somerfields in the first place and 10 percent still makes most items more expensive than Asda, Morrisons etc.

My local Tesco accepted them one day, but refused them the next. Our Asda won't take them either, but some will. If you do a search under 'Tesco' you will see that the policy differs from store to store, and it depends on the individual manager whether they take them or not.

My tescos took 2 of the £5 pound whisky vouchers for one shop, plus a couple of the 50p wine ones..they we're closely scrutinised, but the guy scanned them anyway. Great stuff!

I was given one of their new magazines this morning and it has £11 worth of vouchers in there. Can they be used anywhere else because my nearest Somerfield is 15 miles away.

If they can be used elsewhere do I have to buy the product too?

My local Tesco take lots of different vouchers and coupons without me having to buy the actual product - but they don't take the Somerfield ones you are talking about (I know this because I took loads of the Somerfield magazine home and carefully cut each voucher out only to be told Tesco don't take them).
    All credit cards paid off.

Some Tescos will take them - but I guess they're a minority. Also, as far as I know, Asda will take them into account as part of their Price Match policy, but don't quote me on that, I haven't done it myself, just remember someone mentioning it on the boards.
