Alternative to Bread

My sister has been to the doctors recently and he thinks she may have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (like me) but he wants to rule out everything else first.
He has told her to cut out all these things in her diet:
Everything with gluten
Everything dairy
Red meats
Fizzy drinks
Tea and coffee
Citrus fruits
However she really loves bread with everything and is really upset at having to cut it out, she looked at gluten free bread and a small (rock hard) loaf was £1.98 and she is on a very tight budget and can't really afford to spend that on bread.
Is there anything she could eat as an alternative to bread?

How about tortilla wraps, do they have gluten in? You can make sandwiches out of them and I had them last night with rice, mexican meatballs & spicy veg and they were perfect. Not quite the same as havig a bacon sandwich, but I guess as thats red meat anyway.
My sympathies, my OH has high cholestrol, limiting aint the word :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

Mmmmmm your making me hungry, those tortilla wraps sound delicious, will definately suggest that to her.
My IBS is triggered by dairy so I don't suffer too much, as I am not a big fan of milk or cheese etc.0 -
There are lots of gluten free bread recipes out there. Go and get yourself a cheap machine and have a go. Or it can be done by hand.
I particularly like this bread:

chickpea flour also called gram flour.
you can get most of the ingredients from your large supermarkets.
There are also recipes for pitta bread and tortilla.
My son was on a gluten free diet for a while and i started with the bought in bread....Yuk! Although the gluten free pasta is quite good. Have a look around on the web as there is alot of support for gluten free and dairy free diets.;)"A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain."
