To be fair, most of the SF stuff seems to be reduced at the moment:

I think my daughter would love Sylvanians but they are so expensive once you have to buy the furniture and the familes. The houses are reduced to £20 but add on a family and some furniture for each room you'll easily spent £90-£100 and I am not sure I can justify spending that. They do need the furniture and a family, not like they can just play with the house.
Actually, this might be the time to say, what really, really hacks me off is that they show the pictures of the house or whater, such as this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flair-4700-Sylvanian-Families-Grand/dp/B000N5OL8O/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=kids&qid=1254909538&sr=1-13 and it makes it look like you get lots of figures, cars, bikes but actually all you get is the hotel, a few suitcases, topiary and room keys, to make it look like it does in this picture will probably cost you another £100 and that is before starting on the furniture to go inside the hotel that you cannot actually see at this angle. And it really, really, really irriates me (rant over, sorry).0 -
I agree with you blue monkey, it is expensive but if someones child already has some figures/accesories etc then hopefully these savings might be useful.
It's also worth mentioning if someone was buying for a child with no SF collection that the applewood cottage comes with 1 figure and some furniture and the toyshop comes with some accessories but no figures.
Thanks for the links too0 -
i bought the hotel last xmas and it hasn't got that much furniture in it so it is hardly played with..it will cost a fortune to fill it...0

Argos worth a look for some of this stuff as well as we've been ordering some today for our daughter.
Riverside Canal Boat is a good few quid cheaper at Argos.

I bought the hotel from toysrus, found out later that the one argos were selling had a few figures and LOTS of furniture, Soon took that back to toysrus - got hassle from the manager who said 'well why didnt you just come back here and I would have price-matched it' as it was a few quid cheaper. I some how doubt he would have given me all the stuff that came with it and a price match. !!!!.0

They have that hotel in The Entertainer at the moment, £100 for the hotel, 4 family members and 17 pieces of furniture.0

Just as an update to anyone interested. I received the toyshop and cottage today.
The cottage comes with one figure, a dining table and chairs and a fireplace/range type thing, and the toyshop comes with lots of miniature sylvanian buildings and little shop accesories but no figures.
I was pleased with what I got for the reduced price as I got the labrador family too (10.99 amazon) and the 3 items will give dd4 plenty to play with without needing to buy more.
But yes, I can see with the huge items like the hotel that they would cost tons to fill.0
