Portable Satellite Receiver & Dish £69.99

From my experience these are both very good and rubbish - let me explain......

This was my first experience with satellite and I found it very easy to set up and use - my only frustration was that apart from heavy rain it worked perfectly from a dish which looked like a small dustbin lid - frustrating 'cos it looked as it shouldn't have worked.

As I said, apart from heavy rain, it worked perfectly for about 4 months - then it blew up - literally !! I later found out that this was common with the "Porty" model I had. The authorised repaier was useless - did not answer their phone or respond to e-mails / letter. Lidl were Ok - gave a refund, but could not help with repair.

I then bought a Technomate 1000D (around £70) and connected it to a Sky mini-dish (£10 on eBay) with £10 of cable, I've got a super system which picks up much much more than the Lidl one and is not affected by the weather. It's like compairing a pedal bike with a Skoda Fabia VRS.

You can gues my recomendation. The portable dish is only worthwhile if you are going to use it for it's portability - otherwise you will need a proper fixed dish - sky minidishes in SE england are very good - you are therefore then paying £70 for a cheap and chearful (possibly unreliable) reciever - my advice is get a proper one and do without the blow moulded case. Even for caravan use I'd go down the proper route.

If you do decide to get the Lidle one - get there fast they sell like hot-cakes.

If anyone want's any advice, please ask or PM me. I hope this helps.

Or there is this from Maplin (at £79.99 less any codes - at least £3 off £50)
