also i am doing it just to earn £200 per mth is this quite easily done?
how do you declare taxes etc and do u have to on this level on income?
i was recently made redundant and neverbeen a full time mum but i have been at home for the past mth with my 2 and half yr old and absolutley loving it!! and would like a job like this and just need a bit of money to get by on
thanks in advance xx

Hi Danni
In answer to your questions:-
1. You can sell to schools but you don't have to. This is where there is potential for large orders!
2. You earn 24% commmission on everything you sell, therefore you would make £240 in commission for selling £1000 worth of books.
3. You would need to register as self employed and declare your earnings on a tax return each year.
I have a little girl who is two and a half and have recently had a baby. I started with Usborne when I decided I didn't want to go back to my old job after my maternity leave.
If you want any more info I'd be happy to help.0 -
Hi. I have been an Usborne organiser since 2001, and some months I have earned £200 and more and other months, I haven't. You can't guarantee what you will earn as it really (obviously!) depends on how much you sell, and later on, if you recruit people, how much they sell as that helps your income too. You have to register as self-employed with your local tax office and fill in a simple tax return each year - whatever you earn - you may not earn enough to actually pay any tax, but you still have to tell them!
Schools - yes, you just ring them up. I find secondary school librarians the easiest to call as they are used to seeing reps and will sometimes say "Yes, I'll see you next week" and sometimes, "No, call me later" and perhaps suggest that you call back in a particular month when they may have some budget to spare. Primaries are a little trickier as the person you need to speak to is usually a teacher and it is not as convenient for them to come to the phone so I leave an info pack and perhaps a book for them to look at, and try to get an email address. Get the school secretary on side and you're half way in!
Parties in people's homes are the best place to start, and going along to your local toddler groups and get-togethers - and looking out for craft and gift fairs in the area. They are fabulous books too.
Happy to answer your questions. Hope that helps!December GC: £3500 -
